So, after a slight delay, I thought it might be about time for my second post!
I’ve been getting asked about Skincare a lot lately. With us now into winter, many people have seen the change in weather have quite a big effect on their skin. The drop in temperature along with cold winds and being in and out of central heating all day can really dry your skin out or irritate more sensitive skin types. So I decided to do a little blog about some of the products I am loving at the moment which seem to be really keeping my skin in good condition!
First up is Dermalogica’s Daily Resurfacer. I don’t feel it’s an exaggeration when I say this may be the best Skincare product I’ve ever used! I’ve always been a big fan of Dermalogica products and have used their Daily Microfoliant for years but a while ago a facialist recommended I give this product a try instead and I’ve noticed such a massive improvement in my skin since I did. Slightly different from most exfoliators in that it’s a leave-on treatment, applied with a little exfoliating glove, which leaves behind a dose of alpha and beta hydroxy acids and enzymes to smooth the skin. It leaves your skin feeling so clean and fresh, I can’t really say enough good things about this one.
Next is Advanced Night Repair Serum by Estée Lauder. This has been a beauty must-have for years but I’ve only just recently tried it out for myself. This product is aimed at reducing the signs of ageing as well as hydrating and brightening the skin long term. What I’ve really noticed is the improvement in the texture of my skin which can often be quite dull and dehydrated, making it much smoother and brighter. I don’t have much visible signs of ageing (yet!) but any skin specialist will tell you that protection is better than cure! This has fast become one of my new favourite products.
Another Estée Lauder product I’m loving is their Idealist Serum which aims to reduce the look of uneven skin tone such as blemish marks, dark spots or blotchiness. I got this to try as I have some light acne scarring and I’ve never found a product that actually makes a real difference. I’ve definitely seen an improvement since using this one. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it’s a bit drying on my skin but it would be perfect for someone with a more combination/oily skin type.
One thing I’ve never consistently used before is an eye cream but when I was revamping my skincare regime recently I decided I probably should! As I mentioned, I’m a big Dermalogica fan so I went with their Total Eye Care. This is a really light yet moisturising eye cream which has an SPF 15 and is great for sensitive skin. I have extremely sensitive eyes and react to most products I use around my eye area and this has caused me no irritation whatsoever. It has the added benefits of optical light-diffusers (so great if you have dark under eye circles) and a chemical free SPF which is so important, even when it’s overcast.
Finally, my current favourite moisturiser is MAC’s Complete Comfort Creme. This is a fantastic moisturiser for dry/dehydrated skin; you can literally feel your skin drinking it in! Also a great one for people with more sensitive skin as the formula is plant and marine based and is good at reducing any redness or irritation. Would definitely recommend if you are in need of a bit of extra hydration this winter!
So these are the main products I am loving at the moment. These are definitely more for those of you with dry, dehydrated or sensitive skin so I’ll do another post soon on products better for oily skin types.
